We are particular to the lobby for a certain sighting of an actor whose mere eye contact almost caused us heart trouble. After a breathtaking two seconds (though it felt like an hour) we were back to our martini and the good company of our two French friends who run a cafe called Bloom.
The lobby has all the glamour of old Hollywood, and all the relaxation of your own living room. The lighting is so hypnotically low that hours are lost when you’ve promised yourself a quick visit, and contrasted with the hyper self-consciousness gripping the surrounding mile, it’s a moment of just floating.
From Favorite Hotel Lounges 9/25/11:
Chateau Marmont – Los Angeles. Quiet, subdued, but buzzing with moments of rogue glamour. This is Hollywood the way Hollywoodland intended, bright enough for an afternoon lunch but dark enough for secrets.
