With lights as scorching as Dubai (pre-crash) and a landgrab from every chef in town (Katsuya, Lawry’s, Rosa Mexicano, Kerry Simon, Wolfgang Puck), LA Live is as blinding as the Las Vegas strip. But an appearance from the Glitch Mob, famed for their seething, dense, bass sound, was sufficient to yank us through Club Nokia for the night. Our walk to the venue took us past the bright glass lobby of the Ritz-Carlton LA Live, and their first-floor wine bar. We promised ourselves a stop afterwards, and spun through the spacious, polished, lounge with clustered outlets of seating. Though we couldn’t spot a live DJ, on a friday night the lobby was buzzing like a convention hall. Our take? We’re happy to report that downtown has some new disco.
