With so severe a facade and interior, we were struck that the design of Hotel Straf was near antisocial. Burnished copper walls and raked concrete slabs hold up what appears to be an interior spanning the opposite of Rinascente shopping mall and the neighborhood cathedral. Our room had a floating TV screen pushing out mood music with a personalized greeting, and our bathroom was a dramatic sink bowl that was four feet high and resting on the same copper paneling as the rest of the bathroom’s interior.
