There’s no rescuing this cavern of a hotel from its desperate grip on nature (more taxidermy than PDT!) and antisocial lack of lighting. Reminding us of freshman year in college a few blocks away, our hotel room was occupied by plaid, tufted wood furniture, and the sound of constant footsteps stumbling down the hall. There isn’t anything quaint about the Ace New York, but if you’re in town during the UN General Assembly, you’ll be grateful their rates are not trendy enough to notice.
