We rushed into the Andaz for an early evening drink on a weekday in February. Our first Andaz outside of California, we were curious how the sleek steel design would find its way in Manhattan. It’s decidedly darker, rustic, and more library study than indoor/outdoor patio.
The basement bar at Andaz 5th is a mixologist’s laboratory, with fresh fruit and vegetables as abundant as in a restaurant kitchen.

Cipriani Dolci – Grand Central Station: We’re deeply smitten with Grand Central Station and the gorgeous Main Concourse. Our favorite stops at GC include the Transit Museum Store and the subterranean mezzanine food hall, but our top scenario to wind away an hour is over a martini (Ketel, twist) at this lovely bar overlooking an afternoon’s worth of transportation logistics.
