We’re trying to remember if we’ve walked through the hotel lobby and we’re leaning towards possibly not, despite trips to the neighborhood dungeon which they’ve named subMercer lounge.
New York has its highs as much as its lows, and on our commute between rooftops and basement bars, we’ve settled on something good here. With a separate entrance from the hotel and a wine cellar vs. grotto design feud, we love subMercer for its DJ selection and fairly reasonable drink prices, though you’ll want to make this a later stop in your night.

Cipriani Dolci – Grand Central Station: We’re deeply smitten with Grand Central Station and the gorgeous Main Concourse. Our favorite stops at GC include the Transit Museum Store and the subterranean mezzanine food hall, but our top scenario to wind away an hour is over a martini (Ketel, twist) at this lovely bar overlooking an afternoon’s worth of transportation logistics.
