We were in and out so fast that we weren’t able to enjoy the hot baths or even the complimentary upgrade to a suite. Located in Japantown, the Hotel Kabuki is a lovely traditional Japanese hotel, with tatami mat floors and a Japanese-style sliding door sleeping room off of the main room (presumably for the parents). We liked the traditional Japanese design, although we liked the jacuzzi tub even more. Though this hotel is a bit West in terms of location, nothing is ever extraordinarily far in San Francisco, a town that can be traversed in half a day.

Clift Hotel
With the dark wood paneling of a former bank building, the Clift Hotel's Redwood Room is the perfect place to grab an after-work drink (or throw an all-out birthday bash). The video portraits on the walls with faces that slowly blink or turn from side to side are reminiscent of the Haunted Mansion.
